A Bill that puts the environment squarely into legislation governing the Environmental Protection Authority passed its first reading today, says Meka Whaitiri.
“I introduced this member’s bill as the current law doesn’t actually make protecting the environment a goal of the Authority.
“This was a glaring omission. We want to ensure that such protections are at the heart of New Zealand’s environmental practices.
“This Bill will reinforce the role of the Environmental Protection Authority which is one of the cornerstones of conservation in Aotearoa,” Meka Whaitiri says.
